==Building the necessary post-capitalist infrastructure of the future is no simple task but it’s one we’re willing to take on== and we know we’re going to need a lot of help to make it happen. The revolution is a collective effort and we hope you’ll consider contributing how you think you best can. This page is meant to help you figure out how you can best help make a post-capitalist web3 possible in the Breadchain Network.

Who are we looking for contribution?

There are several ways one can begin contributing to Breadchain. Of course before getting into contributions with your labor, anyone can contribute financially to the project by baking BREAD or donating through Open Collective (fiat) or Giveth (donate in crypto including BREAD).

When it comes to working by contributing your labor, there’s a lot we could use help on including not just development but also writing, marketing, design, community and business development, and a whole lot more . In the contributors application form you will find various skills that we would find helpful.

The types of contributions we’re looking for includes

  • technical and non-technical skills
  • continuous to one-off sessions
  • paid and volunteer

If you’re a developer, here’s our Github page where you’ll see that we use tools and frameworks like wagmi, ethers, nextjs, typescript, tailwindcss, solidity, etc.

Breadchain Cooperative

Breadchain Cooperative has 11 repositories available.

But more than perhaps anything, we are looking for people with emotional maturity, post-capitalist entrepreneurial spirit, and ability to work autonomously. This includes those who have experience working in cooperative environments or eager to learn how. We suggest the book “Better work together” from the folks at Enspiral which forms much of the inspiration for how we work together.

Better Work Together

Tools, methods and stories from the frontiers of collaboration and organisation building.

Working in a democratic organization like Breadchain is not like a traditional work environment and had different expectations than a hierarchical or corporate organization. This book is a good start as well as the practices professed by our friends at Microsolidarity is another place to get a sense of what it means and how to succeed in this type of organizing.

How to start contributing?

  1. Join our discord, guild, follow on twitter, etc.
  2. Become familiar with Breadchain by visiting our website, baking BREAD, reading our blog / wiki, etc.

  8. After completed a full task you may be asked to join the core team or your profile shared with another member project that may need some contributors with your skills

What is the core team?

The core team is the most dedicated group of contributor towards Breadchain app development and community building. It is also the team that has a right to the funds being given to the Breadchain Core option in the governance app UI. The core team members are leaders around the management of the GitHub, the Breadchain website, applications, social media pages, discord server, and more.

How does the core team work?

As a small team that includes a mix of people who are are either volunteering, working part-time, or somewhere in between, there is no set way with how everyone is expected to work. It would depend on the type of work you’re doing, your availability, and many more factors. However we do have some base expectations since we organize as a cooperative.

Being on the core team means that you are a representative of the project with the expectation that you are in frequent contact with the rest of the core team. This includes our weekly stand up calls, weekly community calls, and any other ad hoc or regular calls for specific initiatives. You would also become a signer in our multi-signature wallet which holds the groups funds.

We are a relatively small team so we try not to have too many formal process in place that can be cumbersome but we definitely have them for the most important ones. We do work largely in line with the principles of sociocracy or consent based decisions making where full consensus is not required to begin working on an initiative. We like people who take initiative! But also be sure that you can show how that initiative fits within our larger purpose and goals in a reasonable time frame.

Some who work with us also receive a monthly wage. In order to receive a wage, one is expected to share a list of responsibilities they will carry out and begin discussions with the group on the amount of hours they are wanting to contribute. This will determine the pay bracket that they would fall under. The pay brackets are determined based on open and honest conversations with handy budgeting tools and calculators to see how much runway we have available and are comfortable with having left over. Wages are revisited every 3 to 6 months at minimum to account for changing conditions.

Core team members will also receive the Breadchain Core Team role in the crypto leftists discord server which will reveal the private channels where work is discussed. Core team members are expected to answer and respond to questions / requests in the server in a timely manner.

You can find more specific information in the operational-annex of the Breadchain Constitution.
