Member Projects

Member projects are the organizations that make up the Breadchain Cooperative.

Current Member Projects are:

  • Breadchain Core
  • Symbiota Coop
  • LaborDAO
  • Crypto Commons Association
  • Citizen Wallet
  • ReFi DAO

Eligibility

If an organization would like to become a Member Project of the Breadchain Cooperative they must: be an active organization, have familiarity with web3 tools, and have demonstrated work on one or more of Breadchain’s guiding principles.

For consideration, a potential new project to be added to the network must be nominated by another member and have filled out the application form. The project must also provide information about itself and have a representative in mind to be included in the monthly governance calls. We will only invite new projects to join the cooperative upon unanimous vote from the whole group.

Responsibilities of Membership

All member projects must have at least 1 representatives from their organization to attend meetings, provide updates and plans for future work, and contribute to the forward movement of the cooperative.

It is expected that representatives won’t miss more than one consecutive call. If extenuating circumstances come up, they should have a replacement representative as there should be at least one representative in attendance.

Onboarding

All team members will learn the necessary basic skills for using the technological infrastructure we are using for the project including:

  • How to, use an ethereum wallet, store a private key, bridge chains, and other fundamental skills with using cryptocurrency tokens.
  • How to use the crowdstaking application and have baked BREAD tokens to their crypto wallet.

Exit / Removal

A Member Project is allowed to leave of their own volition at any time with written resignation. After resignation Breadchain and the Project will have 30 days to conduct the necessary activities to remove them from the cooperative (removal from website, multi-sig, etc.). There may be an instance where an organization requests funds before their resignation and will be asked to return them to the cooperative within the 30 days.

Conversely, through a democratic process, Member Projects may be removed by the collective. A few reasons for this removal could be that the project is not meeting their membership requirements, becomes inactive (3+ months or more of no output), or conducts activities that conflict with the guiding principles.

The request for removal can be initiated by any governing member. This is our process:

  1. Initiator should speak to at least two others in the group (number can change or increase with size of group) on desire to kick another member
  2. If two others support the need for a resolution session (they do not need to support kicking the member) a session should be scheduled
  3. The first session should focus on understanding what the issue is and finding any immediate solutions. Most importantly a list of actions the potential offender can take to show they are willing to make changes that other partners want to see. The list of actions may not necessarily be limited to just the potential offender depending on the situation.
  4. A month should be allowed to let the potential offender make changes as discussed in the first session.
  5. After a month another session should be held to evaluate whether the appropriate changes have been made and a majority vote will be taken to determine if the partner should be removed or not.

Financial

The primary multisignature wallet where funds are stored is gno:0x6A148b997e6651237F2fCfc9E30330a6480519f0. These funds are primarily meant to be used at the discretion of what the majority of the Project Leads would like done with it to push the vision of Breadchain forward. The expected scope includes giving grants, sponsorships for events, funding for specific initiatives, and anything else that fits the Breadchain Purpose and Guiding Principles.

The members of the multisig will include the representatives of each Breadchain network project. There should only be one representative of each project in the multisgnature wallet. Transactions will be decided by a majority signing by the members.

Breadchain Core Team

The Breadchain Core Team includes those who are actively contributing to the main day to day activities of Breadchain which may include development work, design, writing articles, marketing, and everything that fits within the remit of Breadchain Core.

Eligibility for Joining

Joining the Core Team requires having contributed to the project first as a non-core contributor and then a nomination from someone else within the Core Team who has worked with or reviewed their work. The contribution depends on the skills of the person but should be a full task. As long as there are no objections they can be added as a member.

Responsibilities

Core Team members are expected to join the weekly standup meeting as often as they can in order to discuss and update the rest of the team on their work and inform them if there is anything that they need input on or help with. They are also expected to track the different tasks needed to be done by either them or others they are collaborating with on the team.

Removal

A member is allowed to leave of their own volition at any time. A member can also be removed for being inactive or for not communicating for over 30 days. They must first receive a notice warning of their removal but a continued no communication will lead to removal. Current members can also be removed from the group if a majority of the other members vote to do so after due process. Removal includes removal from the multisignature wallet, any relevant chat groups, ending of wages if necessary, etc.

The due process should include a neutral third party from within the Breadchain network if needed to help facilitate any possibilities of conflict resolution. The process shall be followed similar to member project removal. A removed member should hand over accesses to all Breadchain related work they were doing and cannot jeopardize collective assets of the project in order to coerce their continued membership.

Financial

The primary multisignature wallet where funds are stored is gno:0x918dEf5d593F46735f74F9E2B280Fe51AF3A99ad. These funds are used to help the core team develop the applications, market the solutions, and whatever other type of work deemed necessary for the project. Members can make requests for funding for payment, travel expenses, payment of tooling, and more.

The core team can give members a monthly wage through these funds if desired. The exact amounts and to whom should be decided in a democratic manner where the needs of the members are balanced with the runway available in the treasury.

The money collected in Open Collective will be governed similarly but off-chain.
